The A W Hill Scottish Pictorialist Photography Collection features 88 bromoil transfer exhibition prints form the photographer's archive, 83 signed in pencil. A.W. Hill was an authority on the medium and the works in this collection represent portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, harbours, harvest scenes, genre scenes, portraits, and bucolic scenic views in keeping with the aesthetics of the Pictorialist movement of the early 20th century. Included are views of Edinburgh, Cramond, Eilean Donan, Kilchurn Castle, Craigcrook Castle, Craigmillar Castle, Kippford, St. Abbs, Crail, Macrihanish, Port Seton, Eskwater, Buckhaven, the Lake of Menteith, Eyemouth harbour, and Aberlady bay. The works are divided into two series: 'Landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes' as well as 'Figure studies and portraits'.
