Description
The photographs of landscape photographer Robert Adam represent a systematic visual survey of the Scottish landscape from the years 1901-1956. The 15,000 original negatives featured in this collection display a consistent documentary and topographic approach as well as an artistic portrayal of the life, landscape, gardens and architecture of Scotland. His work records rural, highland and island Scotland, and is strongly influenced by his interests, botany and hill walking. The captions and titles of the photographs featured in this collection are taken directly from Adam's notes which he wrote on his negative envelopes and in his indices.
