Edgar Primrose Dickie (1897-1991) served in World War I and was awarded the Military Cross. He served again in World War II and was mentioned in dispatches duriong the Normady invasion. Between the wars he studied at Edinburgh and several other universities and was ordained in 1927. In 1935 he was appointed Professor of Divinity, at the University of St Andrews.
