Caramel being made in the Tunnock's factory in Uddingston - Tunnock's factory, Uddingston, Glasgow. The family-owned company is headed by Boyd Tunnock CBE, the founder's grandson who celebrated his 80th birthday in 2012. The company was established in 1890 by Thomas Tunnock and still produces the iconic snowballs, caramel wafers and Tunnock's teacakes famous all over Scotland and the world. Boyd Tunnock is a character and referes to as a present day Willy Wonka - some of the staff have worked at the factory for over 30 years.
