Description

Dark blue leather bound album 60 pages, two blank. Mostly albumen prints of Africa, Egypt? India and Australia: mostly commercial, some panoramic topographical, plus family groups and individual portraits of ethnic peoples, an Italian catacomb, Valetta, Malta, and various shipping views. Last used page has manuscript and newspaper cutting pasted on; a poem, written in ink on lined foolscap, is entitled ‘After the Concert’ and is signed M. W. B., SS Massilla, Indian Ocean, 23rd February, 1896. Onto it is pasted the newsprint cutting of the passenger list for RMS Massilla on leaving for London, Mr J[ohn?] Buchanan included in list. The very last page has a map showing lines of communication carried on steamers of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company.
