Description

Ballendean House was once owned by John Wedderburn a rich slaveowner who made a fortune from owning sugar plantations in Jamaica. Wedderburn also owned a slave, Joseph Night, who he brought back to Scotland to be his butler. Knight sued for his freedom in the Scottish courts and won. Currently Ballendean House is owned by a Christian charity and rents out its front lawn to sports teams like the Dundee Hurricanes American Football Team
