Description

John Newland, a wealthy slave and plantation owner in Kingston Jamaica once owned this property which is now part of Central Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. John Newland returned to Scotland a very wealthy man and paid for the foundation of Bathgate Academy. Each June the Newland Festival in Bathgate celebrates his endowment.
