The Scottish Kirk in Kingston. John Newland, a wealthy slave and plantation owner in Kingston Jamaica, would probably have gone to this church every Sunday. John Newland returned to Scotland a very wealthy man and paid for the foundation of Bathgate Academy. Each June the Newland Festival in Bathgate celebrates his endowment.
