Description

Cleared area in city streets lined with tenements and industrial buildings, with church spire and smoking chimneys on skyine. A-frames and jibs, workmen and workhorse amongst piles of builders' rubble and remains of demolished buildings in foreground. Washing on line strung between tenement flats. Horse drawn cart or trap on road. The many advertisements and fly-posters on gables include - 'Clock Boot, 7/6d'; 'Use Ross's Blacking'; 'BO-PEEP'; 'Lamb's Station'. Forthcoming sale notice gives the date ... 3, 1880. Circus and Music Hall notices amongst fliers.
