Title
Art Treasures Tour of Southern India.
Description
Milne's slides of the Swan Hellenic Art Treasures Tour of Southern India - 21 February to 12 March 1992. Comments by Milne on the history and architecture of the places he was visiting are included in the description of the images. Milne returns to India to see several sites he was unable to see on previous visits. He notes his visit to the Kaikuntha Perumal Temple as a highlight as well as being able to see several masterpieces of Pallave art including Durga on her lion. He saw laundry being washed in the river and local fisherman casting their nets. He visited a tiger reserve but didn't get to see any tigers, instead spotting a herd of wild elephants at sunset. The group also visited a Jewish synagogue in Cochin where Milne notes that only 7 Jewish families remain of a once vibrant Jewish community.
